This lesson was a lesson I planned in response to students responses to a (d) question from the OXFORD textbook which stated 'There are more similarities than differences between Shi’a and Sunni Muslims’ The lesson is planned with lots of exam structure tips/ mats/ mark schemes etc. to plan the perfect (d) answer. Relevant slides would need to be printed and handed to the students . There's an around the room activity and opportunity for peer and self assessent Lesson outcomes: To identify key differences between Shi’ah and Sunni Muslims To understand why there are differences To evaluate the statement ‘There are more similarities than differences between Shi’a and Sunni Muslims’

Tips and quick wins are on the PowerPoint Students can also look at/ practice and assess model 5 mark answers ( I recently did an AQA training course and based the answers on this) All models are worth 5 marks. I have tried to teach y11 to condense how much they write in a 5 mark question as many run out of time in the exam. There are opportunities for students to practice using Point-Evidence-Explain with suggested strategies for the long 12 mark answer
